Jaisalmer

In the remote region of Rajasthan lies the fairy-tale city of Jaisalmer. Above all this city is one of India’s most popular cities. The city seems to come straight out of the fairy tale Aladin.
Jaisalmer, also known as the “Golden City”, is completely different from other cities in India.
Although the special environment is already a reason for a visit, the city itself is the real draw. The streets of Jaisalmer are flanked by numerous honey-colored facades covered with beautiful motifs. But the ‘haveli’ really make the city special. These are private houses of rich merchants from the eighteenth and nineteenth century. One of the nicest haveli is the Patwon ki Haveli.

Many people who arrive here don’t only visit the city, but they also explore the surrounding Thar desert by camel.

Jaisalmer is famous for its beautiful embroidery. This emboidery incorporates small pieces of glass. Women apply them on clothing, textiles and wallets.
