Srinagar

Srinagar is the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the only state in India that is predominantly Islamic. As a result, the city has a totally different atmosphere and appearance than other large cities in India.

Srinagar is located at an altitude of 1730 meters in the fertile valley of Kashmir and is famous for its wonderful lakes such as the Dal lake. Many locals live here on a richly decorated houseboat. Because of its high location, it is a nice place to escape from the summer heat.

Srinagar is a green city full of fruit trees. This city has a lot to offer for tourists: ancient mosques and the famous Dal Lake to beautiful botanical gardens and impressive viewpoints.

It’s nice to stroll through the atmospheric streets, past bazaars and prayer buildings. In the old city you will find the Khanqah Mosque of Shah-i-Hamadan with beautifully colored carvings and reliefs of papier-mâché.
